Interview for "Erial Magazine"

Hi there!

I've been missing for a while, working hard on some new stuff I'll publish soon, but for now I'm back with some good news I've been longing to tell you!
Some weeks ago I was interviewed by Erial Magazine, we had a great time talking about many things like my days as an art student, my influences and goals, I also explained my point of view as a female artist who draws pin up girls, etc!

¡Hola de nuevo!

He estado ausente un tiempo, trabajando en bastante material nuevo que publicaré pronto, pero ya estoy de vuelta con buenas noticias que deseaba contaros :D

Hace unas semanas el equipo de Erial Magazine me hicieron una entrevista en la que pasamos un rato genial charlando de muchas cosas como mi época de estudiante de arte, mis mayores influencias y objetivos, también expliqué un poco mi punto de vista como artista femenina que dibuja chicas pin up, etc.

Night Dreamer

I did this piece several months ago for the zine Quaintrelle, that has now been published!

Quaintrelle is a beautiful new project, full of amazing female artists and the main theme for this first edition was "The Night". A beautiful theme that inspired me and made me think about how much I like to dream... though not just at night, I love to dream all the time! :P

Someone told me this girl looked a lot like Wendy from Disney's "Peter Pan"...
and I think they're right xDD I always liked her so maybe, somewhere in my mind
I was thinking about her while I was drawing this :)

Ok I'll be sincere... I usually post lots of photos of yummy meals xDD and also I post some pics of my pets, please forgive me, but my cat is just so cute that I can't help it! >///<

INKTOBER + "Guess the Disney Princess" game

It's October and that means it's time for INKTOBER!

And what's that? you may wonder XDD It's a challenge in which you have to make an ink drawing everyday throughout this month.
In my case, everything I've drawn reminds me of the Disney princesses xDD so I've decided to make my inktober Disney girls themed!

So I want to propose you a little game on my Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/ariArtna ) where I'll post everyday an unfinished sketch of a princess and you'll have to guess which one is it! :P

At the end of the month you'll vote your favorite one and I'll make a wallpaper with her for you ^___^

¡Es Octubre y eso quiere decir que es el mes del INKTOBER!

¿Y qué es eso? os preguntaréis xDD pues se trata de un reto en el que hay que hacer un dibujo a tinta cada día durante todo el mes.
Como en mi caso todo lo que he dibujado me recuerda a las princesas Disney xDD así que he decidido que mi Inktober será temático de chicas Disney!

Y con esto os propongo un pequeño juego en mi Facebook ( www.facebook.com/ariArtna ) y es que cada día publicaré un boceto inacabado de la princesa del día y vosotros tendréis que adivinar cuál es! :P

Entrevista para "Lupus in Fabula"

Recientemente me he unido a "Lupus in Fabula", un proyecto para promocionar el género fantástico y de ciencia ficción que cuenta con su propia revista online trimestral (¡gratuita!).

Hace unos meses que cada vez me atrae más el género fantástico (es culpa de haber leído "El Nombre del Viento"...) y realizar ilustraciones con esta temática es un reto que me apetece muchísimo, así que publicar con Lupus in Fabula me hace mucha ilusión.

Y para darme la bienvenida a "la manada" me han hecho esta pequeña entrevista como presentación, ¡espero que os guste! ;)

I've recently joined Lupus in Fabula, a project to promote fantasy and science-fiction genres, wich has its own online magazine (and it's free!).

Lately I've felt more attracted to the fantasy genre, (maybe I should blame the book "The name of the Wind" for this new obssession haha) and making this kind of illustrations is a challenge I feel like a lot, so publishing with Lupus in Fabula makes me very happy.

And to welcome me to the "pack" they've made me this little interview, it's all in spanish but anyway I wanted to tell you about the news to make you know new illustrations are coming! ;)

Facebook mini tutorial!

¡Hoy os traigo un post algo diferente pero muy importante! >.<

Muchos de vosotros me seguís en Facebook (www.facebook.com/ariArtna) pero con los cambios que están haciendo ahora en esta red social, las páginas están perdiendo mucha visibilidad y eso quiere decir que apenas un 10% de lo que publico acaba llegando realmente a vuestros muros...

Como sé que os encantan mis ilustraciones (sobretodo las de chicas picantes ehh xDD) y que no os queréis perder ni una sola, estos son los pasos a seguir para solucionar el problema:
Copio directamente de TheCuteWay

• Os colocáis sin pulsar con el ratón encima del "Me gusta" y clicais en "Añadir a listas de intereses" y luego a "+Nueva lista". Cada vez que deseéis crear una nueva lista deberéis seguir este paso, una vez creada, cuando encontréis una página que queráis incluir solo tendréis que seleccionar la lista correspondiente.

• Luego solo tenéis que seguir al asistente, adjudicáis un nombre a la lista, elegís la privacidad de dicha lista:

• Pública: todo el mundo podrá ver la lista que has creado y suscribirse a ella.
• Amigos: tus amigos podrán verla y suscribirse.
• Sólo yo: será una lista privada que solo tú podrás ver.  

• Clicais en "Cerrar" y ¡ya estará hecha! Ahora en la parte izquierda de tu facebook, aparecerá una lista llamada INTERESES y allí tus listas creadas, cuando cliques en ellas verás todas las actualizaciones de las páginas que has incluido en esa lista. 

Otra opción, y de hecho la MÁS FIABLE, es pulsar en el botón "Me gusta" y seleccionar "Recibir notificaciones". De esta forma cada vez que publique algo en mi página os llegará una notificación en la parte de arriba, donde aparecen todo el resto de avisos (y tranquilos que no, no os llegará ningún email con estas notificaciones).

Espero haberos ayudado un poco con el post y que ahora podáis estar al día de todas las páginas que os gustan (la mía incluida claro :P). Cualquier duda preguntadme por aquí o Facebook e intentaré ayudaros!

Nueva cuenta deviantART / New deviantART account

Cuando abrí mi primera cuenta de deviantART hace unos 4 años bajo el seudónimo de "groovyworld", yo era una estudiante de arte gráfico soñando convertirme en una ilustradora profesional algún día.

Empecé a colgar tímidamente algunos de los trabajos que hacía en la escuela, aunque claro, eran muy primerizos. También hice algunos wallpapers y básicamente pasaba el rato en deviantART mirando las impresionantes galerías de algunos artistas y preguntándome si algún día llegaría a ese nivel (confieso que aún hoy algunos me dejan alucinada). Por aquél entonces yo aún buscaba mi estilo propio, estaba llena de inseguridades y me costaba horrores decidirme a publicar algo en internet jaja

Ahora, tras haberme titulado y haber trabajado mayormente en el mundo de la maquetación y el diseño, a mis 24 años me lanzo directa a cumplir mi sueño, dejo atrás a esa estudiante insegura y empiezo mi andadura como ilustradora profesional.

Como sabréis tengo varios perfiles en redes sociales (twitter, tumblr, facebook...) pero mi duda con deviantART fue bastante profunda ya que no sabía si eliminar la cuenta antigua (y perder comentarios, watchers, etc.) y abrir una nueva con mi nombre artístico "ariArtna" o por el contrario mantenerla con tal de no perder todos los seguidores, a pesar de que no fuera con mi nombre actual.

Finalmente opté por crear una cuenta nueva, pero no cerré la antigua. He eliminado de ella todas las ilustraciones (algunas han pasado a mi nueva cuenta) pero la mantendré activa por un wallpaper que hice hace años, que personalmente me encanta y que cada día recibe muchos favoritos y descargas en deviantART.

Se trata de un wallpaper de "Marmalade Boy", un manga mítico y para mí una gran influencia artística. Me hace mucha gracia ver que en Google images sale enseguida y me lo he encontrado en varias webs. Así que como me alegra tanto esa respuesta de la gente, lo mantendré colgado para seguir compartiéndolo :)

¡Vaya, hoy me he puesto un poco sentimental! Ahora aprovecho para hacer spam y deciros que si estais en deviantART me agreguéis :D
Y hablando de redes sociales, me estoy peleando con Google+ para crearme un perfil (me esta costando entender como va XDD) asi que avisaré cuando esté todo listo! ;)

¡De momento atentos que estoy haciendo una nueva ilustración y en poco la colgaré! ¡¡Saludos!!

When I created my first deviantART account about 4 years ago, under the pseudonym "groovyworld, I was a graphic arts student dreaming of becoming a professional illustrator someday.
I started uploading timidly some of the works I did at the art school, but of course, they were very inexperienced. I also made some wallpapers and basically I spent time on deviantART looking at the impressive galleries of some artists and wondering if I could ever reach that level (I confess that even today some leave me amazed). Back then I was trying to find my own style, I was full of uncertainties and I had trouble deciding to upload something on the internet haha
Now, after finishing my art studies and having worked mostly in the world of layout and design, being 24 years old I want to reach my dream, I leave behind that insecure student and I start my professional career as illustrator.
As you may know, I have many profiles on differents social networks (twitter, tumblr, facebook...) but my doubts with deviantART were pretty deep because I didn't know whether to delete the old account (and lose comments, watchers, etc.) and create a new one with my artistic name "ariArtna" or otherwise keep it (and keep all the followers) although it was without my current name.

Finally I decided to create a new account but I didn't close the old one. I deleted all the illustrations on it (some were moved to my new account) but I keep it active for a wallpaper I made some years ago, personally I love it and people keep downloading it everyday from deviantART.

It's a wallpaper of "Marmalade Boy", a famous manga and to me a big artistic influence. I'm very amused to see it's one of the first pictures on Google images and I've found it on several websites. So as I'm so glad for this response from people that I'll keep it online to keep sharing it :)

Wow today I got a little emotional! Now it's spam time: if you're on deviantART, add me!! :D hahaha
Oh and talking about social networks... I'm fighting Google+ to create a good profile (I still don't get how it works :P) so I'll tell you when it's ready!! ;)
